This tour is an hike between the two relieves Mangfallgebirge and Isarwinkel. The tour is only rentable if you take the first part of the tour till the Röhrlmoosalm by bike. After the short ascent through the forest by foot you walk across open alpine meadows and a via verrata to the hut Tegernseerhütte. Ther you have a great few from the observation deck. Climbing to the summit of the Buchstein is recommended only for experienced mountaineers.
You start at the car park „Hohenreuth“ on a paved road southeastward through meadows and a forest. The road is slightly uphill at the beginning, then getting steeper. You will reach the Röhrlmoos chapel and the Röhrlmoos hut (1100 meters). There you follow the road and at the left side of the meadows you go on the winding forest road direct to the Roßsteinhut (1460 meters). Now you continue the path next to the slope tot he south ascent (this trail comes from Bayerwald, the vally Kreuth). We pass the so called „Roßsteinnadel“ northside and reach the beginning of the via verrata. Here it goes straight ahead and rightside up to a crosswalk without safety barriers. For hikers who aren't quite sure on their feet this is the end of the tour. The other one can climb over the short east ridge to the Roßstein (1697 meters). Behind the hut, climbers ascend a wide, well-gripped but partly eroded rock gully (II, 30 meters of elevation gain) and reach the ridge hike to the summit of the Buchstein (1701 meters). The descent is the same way.
